David Ellery is co-founder of Viewpoint Productions. Over the years Ellery has directed, written and produced several factual series for television including In The Past for ITV as well as a number of stand-alone documentary films such as Regal & Retired for BBC tv.

So far they have earned him and the production company three RTS awards, including Best Popular Factual Programme for The Story of RMS Queen Mary (BBC ONE), Best Non-news Multi Skills for recognition of abilities in direction, camera operating, editing, writing & narration, and Best Online Programme for Wattisham Both Sides of the Fence (2018).

David has worked with a wide range of producers to make top quality documentary films on a wide range of subjects, many of which have history-related themes. As a film-maker he has a great knowledge of archive film and how to use it to best effect to bring the past to life.
